Hyclass Pugs live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in Summerland, British Columbia.
Pugs have been a part of my life since 2002 when after a great deal of research, I felt that it was another breed that I would be interested in raising. I wasn't disappointed. They are truly the Clowns of the Dog World. As family members they have full access to my house, my yard and my swimming pool, when their life jackets are on. The pictures are of my dogs enjoying my yard.
Hyclass means Quality!
I breed and show both colors of pugs and do a very limited amount of breeding, producing 1 or 2 litters per year. I focus on the CKC approved Pug standard to produce healthy, sound temperament and correct conformation puppies. Ancestors of your Pug Puppy for many, many generations are trained and temperament tested, have been to dog shows, and have recorded titles to prove it. They are bred according to the Breed Standard, which keeps the Pug looking like a PUG in structure and temperament. The Standard is what makes the Pug breed what it is ! I try to breed for Spring puppies only, so they can visit outdoors on nice days and can be ready for new families during the summer months when most people some have time off to be with them. I breed to enhance my bloodlines and for my next show dogs, but realistically I only have room for so many. As a result, many show potential puppies are placed in pet homes. I breed for quality, not quantity. I have always been a member in good standing with the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) since 1984, ( after 30 years, I am recognized as a Life Member), the Pug Club of Canada, the Pug Dog Club of Ontario, the Skaha Kennel Club and Pug Dog Club of America. I am bound by the Code of Ethics of all of these Clubs. All of my dogs are vet certified healthy every year, eyes certified clear with CERF and have been tested for the susceptibility to necrotizing Meningoencephalitis ( NME) or PDE and PK Def, resulting in an N/N rating.
I encourage you to do your homework when looking for a new pet that will be with you for 12-14 years and buy from a reputable breeder. There are puppy mills everywhere. You should know the lineage of your best friend to ensure health issues are not being bred into them. It is not a matter of getting the papers or not getting the papers. You should know where your dog came from and what the breeder has done to better the breed. Reputable breeders will not sell you a puppy with or without papers. It only costs $34.00 to register a puppy but they must prove extended lineage, not just show you the Sire and the Dam. Breeding is more than putting two dogs together and getting puppies. If you are interested in purchasing a pug puppy, it’s important that you take your time to research the breeders you are considering dealing with. You don’t have to be a backyard breeder to be a bad breeder. Bad breeders come in all shapes and sizes and can put anything on a website. Ask many, many questions, visit the home where the puppies are raised, see the parents, definitely see the mother and go with your gut feeling. If the breeder can't answer your question to your satisfaction, walk away. All puppies are cute but get a guarantee that you are happy with. You don't want to be your veterinarians best friend by paying off his mortgage..
Hyclass Pugs will never sell to brokers, puppy mills or persons believing in the breeding of designer dogs or dogs that differ from the recognized color standard of Fawn or Black. Cross bred dogs only combine inherit health issues of the two breeds. You can rescue a cross bred dog from the SPCA,without paying an outrageous price thinking you are getting a designer breed! Reputable breeders strive to eliminate health issues in their lines.
Before you decide that a Pug is the breed for you and your family, please do some research into the breed and into puppy rearing/training. While they are a FABULOUS companion breed, they are not right for everyone. Before you buy, please do some reading, talk with breeders and also with families that currently own a Pug. Learn all of the pros and cons before you take home a new baby...you might find that an adult dog from Pug Rescue is exactly what you are looking for! I am always happy to talk about pugs or answer any questions you may have about this wonderful and comical breed.
